Honeymoons are special and very personal.  I say personal because honeymoons have evolved and are no longer your traditional format.  You and your partner should do what you want the way you want.  It could be a mini-moon, multi-destination or you may even decide to post-pone it until a later date due to budget or when it is more conducive for work.

 

Either way, it is important that you plan it together so, you both enjoy it.  Remember this is your time to celebrate the start of a new chapter together. 

 

To help you get the ball rolling, here are some questions to ask each other:

1. What is the goal of your honeymoon?  E.g. relaxation, adventure, giving back, educational, cultural, etc.
2. Where do you want to go?  E.g. tropical, polar, beach, city, etc.
3. When do you want to go or when can you go and is the time of year you plan to go the ideal time to visit that destination?
4. Who do you want to travel with you? E.g. is it just you and your partner or do you want to include your children?
5. How much is your budget and how do you want to travel? E.g. foot, car, train, plane, boat, etc.

Now remember, have some fun with these questions.  You will be surprised what you discover.

 

Once you have an idea of how you hope to spend your honeymoon then the planning begins.  Trust me, as you build your itinerary, on your own or with a travel advisor, so does the excitement and the anticipation.
