Sea Cloud Cruises: Small Ships, Big Difference

Bigger, larger, farther? That’s for someone else. The SEA CLOUDs choose a different course—each cruise a distinctive holiday experience.

There’s a moment on a SEA CLOUD sailing when the engines quiet, the deck steadies, and the ship begins to move in a different way. The soundscape shifts. The air feels closer. The horizon slows. This is where small ship cruising stops being a category and becomes a feeling.

SEA CLOUD CRUISES was built for travelers who relish how they reach the destination, in addition to connecting once there. With fewer than 140 guests on board, every voyage unfolds at a human scale. You dock closer. You stay longer. You arrive with curiosity intact. Small ship cruising here is about immersion, access, and the rare luxury of time.

The Elite Fleet

SEA CLOUD II feels like a floating grand residence. Built in the likeness of the original SEA CLOUD, she carries 94 guests with an ease that feels unhurried and intentional. Four open decks invite lingering. Outside staterooms provide light and privacy. A 65-member crew delivers five-star service that never intrudes. The lounge hums softly around a Steinway. The library fills with afternoon light. Evenings gather in a single elegant dining seating that feels more dinner party than dining room.

SEA CLOUD SPIRIT brings modern design and technology into the same timeless tradition. Welcoming 136 guests, she offers expansive decks, ocean-view fitness and spa spaces, and staterooms designed to heighten the sailing experience itself. Nearly half feature balconies or opening windows. Refined finishes, generous layouts, and marble baths with gold accents create sanctuaries that feel both contemporary and classic.

And then there is the original SEA CLOUD. A maritime legend commissioned more than 90 years ago by Marjorie Merriweather Post and E. F. Hutton, she returns in 2027 after an exciting dry-dock renewal. Her presence anchors the fleet as proof that true sailing never goes out of style.

No Buttons. No Shortcuts. All Sail.

These are some of the few passenger ships to still raise the sails entirely by hand, often powering up to half of a voyage by wind alone. Crew members climb high into the rigging, release heavy canvas, and haul lines across the deck in a choreography that takes nearly an hour to complete. There are no hidden motors. No automation behind the scenes. It’s a majestic sight that everyone comes on deck to experience.

When the wind rests, low-sulfur diesel-electric engines take over, maintaining reliability with a lighter environmental footprint. It’s a balance that honors both tradition and responsibility, and one that defines SEA CLOUD’s approach to sustainable travel.

Life at Sea Level

Adventure awaits onboard! Guests can climb the mast to the first platform 46 feet up or haul lines during sail handling. The marina platform opens the sea for swimming, paddle-boarding, tubing, or simply drifting alongside the hull. Photo safaris in the Zodiac invite guests to explore the exterior of the ship itself, capturing angles, details, and light that change hour by hour.

There are beach barbecues in select destinations, afternoons spent reading in the library, spa treatments timed to golden light, and evenings that gather naturally in the lounge around conversation and the sounds of the Steinway grand piano.

The rhythm is unforced. Days stretch or contract as guests choose. This is small ship cruising that respects personal pace, offering engagement without obligation.

VIP Itineraries

SEA CLOUD’s Cultivated Journeys open unique worlds for the well-traveled, exploring history, arts, culture, cuisine, and wellness with VIP experts on board.

One week might follow a culinary rhythm through the Caribbean with a celebrity chef in the galley, live cooking demos on deck with James Beard award winners, or menus shaped by Michelin stars in person. Another centers on music with nightly performances by the Steinway Artists Family on the ship’s grand piano. History focused itineraries see award-winning journalists and former Navy Admirals turning sea days into story sessions. And wellness journeys trade packed schedules for a reset under the sails with yoga, movement, and mindfulness. And select voyages place guests in rare positions for legendary events, including front-row at the St. Barths Bucket Regatta.

Sea the World

Small ships go places others can’t. SEA CLOUD goes places others don’t. Quiet harbors. Historic canals. Ports too remote, too delicate, or too personal for mass tourism. When large ships depart before sunset, SEA CLOUD often stays. Overnight calls allow dinners ashore, late walks through town, and mornings that begin without crowds.

Across the Mediterranean, SEA CLOUD sails from Valletta through Sicily, Corsica, Sardinia, Greece, and Turkey, favoring ports others bypass. Exclusive itineraries in this region are full of historic cities and white-washed villages from the Aegean to the Iberian. In 2027, new calls like Kithnos and Kavala in Greece and Dikili on Turkey’s Aegean shore are rich with character and history. After trips along Croatia’s coastline, sail westward toward the Balearic gem of Menorca for the exciting return to Barcelona.

In 2027, there’s a return to Northern Europe, tracing Portugal’s golden coast to the Celtic fringe. Explore wine-rich Porto, the art cities of Bilbao and San Sebastián, and the seaside grace of France’s La Rochelle and Honfleur. Across the Channel, the British Isles connect Scotland’s storied ports of Leith, Orkney, and Oban with the emerald harbors of Belfast, Dublin, and the Isle of Man.

In the Caribbean and Central America, smaller bays, rainforest coasts, and canal passages open to ships designed for intimacy. Choose from 7- to 14-night journeys from Barbados through Bequia, the Tobago Cays, and Dominica, or explore Curaçao to Colón via Aruba, Cartagena, the San Blas Islands, and the Panama Canal. Extending into Costa Rica, itineraries between Puntarenas and Colón reveal rainforest coasts and secluded bays exclusive to smaller ships.

Everything Included, Nothing Complicated

Small ship cruising should feel effortless. SEA CLOUD’s all-inclusive fares reflect that philosophy. From welcome champagne and daily fruit baskets to fine dining, open bar with upgrades available, curated shore excursions, and onboard programming, the experience is designed to remove friction. Gratuities and port fees are covered. WiFi supports digital sustainability efforts. Laundry service in suites keeps packing light.

Guests enjoy open bridge access, water sports from the marina platform, beach barbecues, and thoughtfully Curated Moments ashore. Cultivated Journeys are included. The result is a voyage that feels generous and upscale, the way travel should be.

Take on the adventure of slowing down.
