Gleneagles - the "Palace in the Glens"

Destinations

October 23, 2009

With a surname like Robertson you would think Scotland would be a regular destination for me, but this is actually my first time in this "new country". 2009 is a special year for Scotland: it's the 250th birthday of one of Scotland's most famous sons, Robert Burns and they're celebrating Homecoming Scotland. The Gleneagles Hotel, set in a breathtaking 850-acre estate in the heart of a beautiful Scottish Glen is our home here for 5 days of meetings, events and of course, golf. This is one of the World's premier golf resorts with 3 championship courses including the PGA Centenary Course, home for the Ryder Cup in 2014. We played this challenging course yesterday and will play the scenic Queens course today. Other outdoor pursuits include riding, shooting, fishing, gundog and falconry schools and my personal favourite, off-road driving in rugged Land Rovers. Indoor pursuits include the award-winning Spa at Gleneagles by ESPA and Andrew Fairlie's Michelin starred restaurant. Only 50 miles from Glasgow Int'l Airport or 44 miles from Edinburght Int'l Airport this is the perfect place to experience all that Scotland has to offer.
